Eating, entertaining and chillin’ outdoors is fun, relaxing, and enjoyable and we all have our favourite alfresco spot where we can simply just kick-back and delight in summertime.
Only reachable by boat or dirt-track, but a stunning position on one of the most beautiful beaches in Corsica, if not the whole of the Med, Le Cabanon Bleu defines ‘laid-back chic, with an ambience, food, wine and view which are simply to ‘dine’ for!
On the old Highway 1 past Point Reynes you come to Tamales Bay, where there is one of the finest alfresco Oyster venues, I’ve ever been to; the position, ambiance, sheer rustic charm and of course the ‘Pick your own oysters’ are simply amazing!
Nestling down a typically narrow Devon lane or, if you’re really brave you can access by the River Avon tidal, Stakes road. The Oyster Shack is authentically rustic and quirky, but serves great freshly shucked Oyster’s. Certainly the place to go for a delicious chilled fun meal with fantastic seafood! Pretty much unbeatable, espcially if you love Oysters!
Michelin starred and set on the French Rivera, what could be better, fantastic, panoramic views from the terrace across Place Mirabeau and the Med in the distance. From early morning, the Auberge du Vieux Château is a great place to chill!
Don’t let being stuck on top of a trendy hotel, put you off, The Nest is a real alfresco oasis in the middle of London, with posh seating, lots of foliage, plus great views across the rooftops, we found it a great place to unwind, after a tough day!
No pretensions, just great fresh food, The Mussel Shoal café kiosk on the quay serves super French bistro-style food, including, obviously ‘Moules-frites’ and if you’re really lucky you can eat on a pontoon in the harbour with great harbour and sea views.
Just a few minutes from St. Mark’s Square, the Canova offers a fantastic canal-side intimate terrace dining experience, innovatively offering tradition Venetian recipes, the Canova is a wonderful place to get away from all the buzz and simple enjoy Venice.
With absolutely amazing views over the Caldera, Santos Winery has to be worth visit, not just for the stunning setting, but also to taste some great Greek wine and food and to just chill and watch the sunset over the bay!
Somewhat touristy, and part of a large resort, but still a great venue with amazing views, so make sure you get close to the pier end especially for Sunset and they have live music. Cocktails are great, food not so much, but still an incredible place to chill.
We’ve listed some of our favourite alfresco chillin’ venues, but where are yours? Let us know; send us a picture and you could win a Gastro GoodiBox.
